“They Keep Asking Why I Work So Late”

Posted by Travis E. Tapps

They joke about the lights being on in my office at 3:00 AM.
They think I’m obsessive. Or lonely. Or both.

But what they don’t see are the patterns I trace when the city sleeps.
The names. The timestamps. The phone logs that don’t match. The cops who transferred precincts the day after a protected witness “changed their story.”

I’m not working late. I’m watching the walls move.

And one day, I’ll be the one who takes the whole rotten structure down.
